Yosemite Taft Point Elopement

Yosemite National Park Elopement at Taft Point, California

I’m not sure I even know where to start, I’ve been so excited to put together this post so here it goes: I’ll start with Leigha and Branden cause they know what it’s all about, they totally went against culture and said no to a traditional wedding. They said no to all the stress. They said no to all the worry, money, stress (again), and all the awkward obligation or pressure to get married a certain way. They said no to a 12 hour day of being carted around for photos, cake cutting, and expected dances…instead, they said yes to each other. Leigha and Branden said yes to eloping.

Yosemite National Park holds a special place in both Leigha and Branden’s heart so it was a no brainer to get married there. They both have adventurous spirits and love to go on long road trips, explore, camp and hike together. So can you think of a better place than Yosemite to elope?

The day started out with Leigha and Branden getting ready early in the morning. They stayed at a lodge within the park to make things easier. We did some getting ready photos and a few shots of the details for the day then took off to Taft Point. We drove separately because Branden and Leigha wanted to have a first look in the redwoods before making the hike out to the cliffs.

Their ‘first look’ was beautiful and so fun! If you’re reading this and planning your elopement, you should totally have one! It’s a great wedding tradition to include in your elopement. After the first look, we started the hike out to Taft Point where we stopped along the way for some photos. If you’ve never been to Yosemite, you need to visit, because it’s incredible and has some of the most breathtaking views I’ve ever seen.

Leigha and Branden then exchanged vows and professed their love and commitment to each other. The park was so peaceful, quiet and intimate without any distractions. Their elopement was officiated but the kindest person ever, Cindi Wilding if you’re looking for a local California officiant for your Yosemite Elopement, Cindi is your gal.

It’s absolutely breathtaking.

Following their vow exchange, we took the time to celebrate! We romped around Yosemite National Park for photos and video. I was able to work alongside Brooke who does videography and her assistant for the day Cassidy these two are true artists and professionals at what they do.

We made our way out to the Valley at the base of El Capitan. And of course, on the way stopped for photos at Half Dome which is located at the eastern end of Yosemite Valley.

These two days were such a success with shooting engagement photos and eloping all within a 48-hour time frame, didn’t feel rushed, it felt right and perfect. Oh and we even celebrated with pizza from the curry village and had all worked up an appetite from all the hiking and exploring. If this doesn’t convince you to elope, I’m not sure what will. :)
