The Best Fujifilm Cameras for Elopements And Weddings in 2024 | With Sample Photos

Photographing Iceland with the Fujifilm GFX 50s II

The Fujifilm X series has served me well during the last almost 7 years now. I purchased the Fujifilm XT-2 not too long after it was released and paired it with the Fujifilm 35mm 2.0 and Fujifilm 56mm1.2
I have successfully used this camera series for wedding days, hiking elopements and portrait sessions. Prior to switching over to Fujifilm I was a Canon shooter and carried Canon 5D mark iiis and a Mark IV which was a great system and got the job done but I didn’t enjoy them at all.

The Canon system strictly felt like a tool to get the job done. If you’re not familiar with those cameras, they are heavy, big and bulky. Something about Fuji made me fall in love right away, I don’t know if it’s the analog inspired top dials, the clicking aperture ring, the size and ease of use or the colors produced. Maybe it’s all of those things combined and why I have stayed loyal to the brand all these years now. I’ve compiled a handful of some of my favorite photos taken on the Fujifilm X series. I’ll be updating this blog with more thoughts, pros and cons of the system but for now here are the images.

Shooting Weddings with the Fuji XT-4 |

I like to hang on to gear, especially for wedding photography. I try to avoid having GAS, not that kind but Gear Acquisition Syndrome. I’m also not a pixel peeper nor do I worry too much about about the specs. Photographers have been taking incredible images with basic cameras for many, many years. I’ve found that the Fuji X series works perfectly for the style of elopement, wedding and portrait photography that my brand offers. I’m sure there are cameras that may handle better in low light situations, maybe even faster, better focus tracking etc but the trade off is worth it for me, I’d rather use Fuji than a camera with the UX of a potato.

Fujifilm X Series cameras are small in size, quiet and allow me to blend in with the crowed to document weddings. The glass is quick and sharp - it’s not the fastest glass in the world, but most weddings I photograph don’t include people running sprints. I carry two Fuji XT-4 cameras, a Leica M6 and a GFX which in my opinion gives me the best of all the worlds.

There’s always a trade off, always some pros and some cons. Ultimately it comes down to what you like, what works for you and can produce the quality you need and want. Enjoy the wide range of photos below. If you have any questions about shooting Fujifilm especially for elopements and weddings as always you can drop me a comment or message me directly.
