Best Santa Fe Welcome Party & Rehearsal Dinner Locations

There’s something about Santa Fe that feels especially suited for wedding weekends.

The pace is slower, the light is beautiful almost all day long, and so many of the spaces here naturally encourage people to gather. Whether it’s a candlelit dinner in an adobe courtyard, rooftop cocktails as the sun sets, or a full weekend at a luxury resort, Santa Fe is one of my favorite places for couples who want their wedding to feel intentional and experience-focused.

As a photographer, some of my favorite images from a wedding weekend often happen during the welcome party or rehearsal dinner. Everyone is relaxed, emotions start settling in, and people are genuinely present with each other before the pace of the wedding day begins.

I recently photographed a welcome party at Hervé and honestly loved every second of it. The atmosphere felt intimate without being overly formal, the candlelight and textures photographed beautifully on film, and the entire evening had this warm, relaxed energy that made documenting it feel effortless. It reminded me why I love photographing multi-day celebrations so much in Santa Fe — the setting naturally creates space for real connection.

Below are some of my favorite Santa Fe locations for rehearsal dinners and welcome parties, organized by the type of experience they work best for.

Why I Love Photographing Welcome Parties in Santa Fe

There’s a different energy during rehearsal dinners and welcome parties that I honestly love documenting.

People are relaxed. Guests are reconnecting. Families are hugging each other for the first time all weekend. The pressure of the wedding day hasn’t started yet.

From a photography perspective, it’s also one of the best opportunities to create images that feel truly personal to the weekend as a whole.

Santa Fe especially lends itself well to this kind of coverage because so many of the spaces here are intimate, textural, and naturally beautiful without needing much added production.

A lot of my favorite film images from wedding weekends happen during these quieter moments.
