I’m incredibly excited to share these Colorado Loveland Pass engagement photos of Rachell and Nick! Sometimes the stars really do align and all the planning and details come together for the most perfect of mountain sessions.

This wonderful newly engaged couple was on the search for their Colorado Engagement Photographer when they found me through Instagram (bless the instagram gods) and I knew right away that I wanted to work together to make their dream mountain engagement session a reality.

We initially chatted to get to know each other a bit and for me to hear what exactly Rachel and Nick wanted for their destination engagement session in the Colorado mountains. This is one of my favorite parts of the early stages of communication cause I get to brainstorm and offer location ideas in the mountains that are perfect for engagement photos, whether that be alpine lakes, mountain passes, national forest or cityscapes in Denver. You name it, whatever you want I’m on it to find the perfect place.

For this session we decided on Loveland Pass which is near Breckenridge and sits at about 12,000 ft of elevation with incredible mountain views for miles. Pro Tip: If you’re exploring this area at anytime of the year, always bring a warm jacket, hat and gloves because the temperature in Denver can be 70 but 30 at Loveland Pass.

After we picked this epic mountain spot for photos we started the planning of logistics, which includes lots of things, but basically the time of day for the BEST freaking mountain light possible and a packing list to make sure Rachell and Nick had everything they needed for their session. We spent well over three hours exploring the mountains, so it’s doing so much more than a traditional engagement session that you might think of… it’s actually an experience and an adventure rather than just a shoot! We hiked the ridge to watch the Colorado Sunset over the mountains and it was just incredible (seriously, take a gander at the photos)

Rachell and Nick had a blast and were blown away at the amazing views especially having flown in from NJ to making this a Destination Engagement Session in Colorado! Seriously, how fun is that? They also made a trip out of it by going camping, getting good mountain town food and exploring Rocky Mountain National Park

Loveland Pass is an area that I’ve explored and scouted extensively. What does this mean? As a photographer I want to offer the best experience possible for all of my couples so this means I do a lot of work upfront by scouting areas, doing hikes and tracking sunset times to see what the lighting will look like so I can show up and get you the best possible photos. This is especially important when working with couples that fly into Colorado for destination engagement photos or elopements at Loveland Pass or other mountain areas in Colorado.

This day was so beautiful and I’m so grateful to be here and work with such kind people like Rachell and Nick! If you’re reading this and thinking about working with me for engagement photos somewhere in Colorado or elsewhere I’d love to hear from you and make your dream engagement photos a reality!
