Sunrise Loveland Pass Elopement: Mountain Views and an Early Wake-Up Call

Okay, let's be real. Waking up at 2 AM is rough. But when it's for a sunrise elopement at Loveland Pass near Breckenridge, Colorado? Totally worth it. I recently had the privilege of capturing a beautiful couple's intimate celebration in this stunning location, and let me tell you, the early start paid off in spades.

Driving up, the darkness was almost complete, just a hint of pre-sunrise glow on the mountains. And the cutest little fox greeted me! Talk about a magical start. Loveland Pass is a spot I know well – I've hiked and explored it plenty of times. So, I knew we were in for some incredible scenery.

We hiked out to the pass, ready to greet the sun. This place is a photographer's dream, especially in the summer. Think vibrant green grass and pops of yellow wildflowers. And the best part? We had the whole mountain to ourselves!

For you photography nerds out there, I even busted out my Leica M6 with Kodak Portra 400 35mm film for some of the shots. It's a total street photography classic, but I love using it for elopements because it really forces you to slow down. You know, be intentional with each click.

After soaking in the sunrise and capturing some epic photos, we headed over to Pass Lake for a super intimate ceremony. Just a handful of their closest friends and family were there to witness their vows. And honestly? There’s something so special about those smaller gatherings. The emotions just feel raw and real. It’s such an honor to capture those moments.

Once the "I do's" were exchanged, we took things to the next level - literally! We drove down to Arapahoe Basin and hopped on the ski lift up to Black Mountain Lodge. This place is tucked away in the mountains and it's absolutely gorgeous. The newlyweds and their guests enjoyed a celebratory lunch with mimosas, strawberry shortcake, and all the coffee you could possibly need. Seriously, it was the perfect way to wrap up an unforgettable morning.

So, a mix of film and digital photography captured this beautiful day. The film was an add-on, but digital photography is included in all my wedding and elopement packages.
