The Leica M6 For Wedding Photography 2025
The Leica M6 is easy to use, it’s lightweight, compact and very discreet. One of the things I love the most about the M6 is how minimal it is and how it allows me to photograph wedding day in a nonintrusive way. I think it’s key to have a wedding photography camera that allows you to do this. Sure you could use a big DSLR with a 70-200mm lens but where’s the fun in that?
The Leica M6 Is The Perfect Camera For Cocktail Hour Photos
If I had to choose only one camera to photograph wedding cocktail hour photos I would 100% choose the Leica M6 either paired with the Summilux 35mm 1.4 or the 50mm 1.4 probably depending on the size of the area, number of people and how tight of photographs I want to get. The above photo was with the 35mm focal length and I just love the softness of it, the slight movement, the multiple facial expressions etc. The film stock was ilford hp5 which is personal favorite black and white film stock especially for wedding photos and even better when using flash.
Leica M6 The Perfect Film Camera For Wedding Photography
The truth is most people either hate or love range finder film cameras but if you haven’t experienced one and if you can get your hands on an M6, just go for it. If you don’t like or don’t grow to love it you can always turn around and sell it for what you paid or trade it in for something different. That’s the beauty of Leica products - in general they hold their value and often times even increase in value.
I’m pretty convinced though that if you enjoy shooting 35mm film, you love weddings and you’re looking for the perfect 35mm film camera for weddings, then you’ll fall in love with the Leica M6.

This is a shorter blog post but in summary the M6 continues to be my everyday carry and a main camera (tool) for every single one of my weddings and elopements! I’m stoked to keep pushing it to new levels in 2025 and can’t wait to share more along that process.
