Colorado Springs hiking elopement at Mount Muscoco

The year of 2020 has been one filled what seems to be endless heartache, changed plans and loss. It has been a year where it’s hard to find glimmers of hope, joy and peace. It has been a year where everything seems to go wrong. And a hard year to be in the industry and even more difficult year to be a couple planning a dream destination mountain elopement in Colorado.

Thankfully through all the yuck this year has brought, I’ve still been so fortunate to work with amazing couples like Chris and Olivia who have shown great patience, kindness and trust throughout such crazy times where you never know what will happen. Chris and Olivia’s Colorado Elopement is one that required lots of last minute planning, communication, location scouting and timeline adjustments, yet it came together so beautifully thanks to Olivia and Chris being so flexible with everything and just pretty darn awesome people. I asked Olivia to share some of their story and their elopement journey and this is what she shared;

‘When we got engaged in 2019 we had no idea what was in store for us for planning a wedding, let alone in 2020. After weighing the pros and cons of whether we wanted to elope or plan a small ceremony for our closest family and friends, we decided on having a small ceremony and found the perfect place in Colorado for a weekend escape. Then 2020 pulled its sleeves up… Couples with weddings planned at the beginning of the year were having to cancel at the last minute, reschedule, or continue with a cut guest list.  We ended up making the difficult decision in July to reschedule our wedding and reception for late 2021, but as a couple we didn’t want to wait any longer to get married, so we decided to elope on our original date. We can say with 100% certainty, it was the best decision we made, even though 2020 wasn’t finished with us.

After booking Sam and scheduling a location, the devastating wildfires took over a majority of Northern Colorado. Once again, we had to make a tough decision to cancel our airbnb and find a different location to stay a few short days prior to our elopement date. We are forever grateful to Sam for scouting another location for us that ended up making for a beautiful setting to the most magical day we could ask for. Wind scorching, mountain climbing, 2020 level fitness, questionable hair day, but still PERFECT.  If you’re even slightly leaning towards an elopement we would 10/10 recommend it.’
