Bridal Veil Falls Elopement in Telluride Colorado

Colorado Bridal Veil Falls Telluride Mountain Elopement

Telluride Colorado Bridal Veil Falls Elopement

When I first got the inquire from Hayden and Bowen and read the following, ‘We met at the Houston Zoo 10 years ago on a photography club field trip. We were 16 and fell madly in love. Since then we have talked about eloping many times. For the longest time we wanted to elope in Ireland where we had traveled to before, but then we visited Colorado several times together and we quickly realized that eloping in the mountains was for us.’ I knew that we were meant to work together!

As soon as dates were confirmed we started brainstorming some of the best locations in Colorado to Elope. Hayden shared that they’d like to elope in the mountains and would love if I knew of a spot that also had a waterfall. I compiled several elopement location options across Colorado based on what Hayden and Bowen were dreaming of and waited to see where they’d choose. This is a process that I offer for all the couples that I work with! And I personally go and scout every location to make sure that you get the best experience possible. It’s also super helpful for planning logistics, timelines and getting amazing mountain lighting.

Hayden and Bowen chose Bridal Veil Falls in Telluride as their Elopement location! Which is an amazing place to start an all day adventure in the mountains. Plus you get to stay in the quaint town of Telluride. If you haven’t been there you seriously need to visit for at least a few days. Telluride is known as the Switzerland of America because the mountains resemble the Swiss Alps, it’s one of my favorite places in Colorado.

Back to the Elopement.. we started the planning by choosing an awesome Airbnb downtown Telluride! Hayden and Bowen decided on The Miner's Union building which was built early in the first decade of the 1900's. Originally used as a hospital, now it’s converted to a place where travelers can stay. I was also a huge fan of it because of the natural light, epic views and neutral tones. These are all nice things to have for detail and candid getting ready photos. Plus you’re literally within walking distance of downtown! Pro tip, if you’re staying in Telluride go to Butcher & Baker for coffee and baked goods… it’s also where these two got their wedding cake made!

Before we took off to the mountains we stopped by downtown for a last minute Elopement Bouquet. Ella from ‘Flowers By Ella’ was gracious enough to make a beautiful arrangement for Hayden! If you’re looking for a local floral shop in Telluride to support, check out Ella here: flowersbyella.co

Once we got to the trailhead we explored Bridal Veil Falls and had the whole area all to ourselves! Always a plus to choose a weekday to Elope in Colorado and at the beginning or end of tourism season. We then began to ascend Black Bear Pass and head deeper into the mountains where both Hayden and Bowen were total troopers and hiked in the wedding attire like it was nothing. We hiked till we found another waterfall and incredible overlook where Hayden and Bowen chose to exchange vows followed with a first-dance, champagne pop and marriage license signing.

The day ended with us exploring an abandoned mine and watching the golden sunset over Telluride. If this doesn’t convince you to ditch the big traditional wedding and elope in Colorado, I’m not sure what will, but it’s the best adventure you can have with your partner. You get to enjoy and remember every moment of the day and have photographs to look back on for a lifetime.
