The Leica M6 is my favorite camera for documentary wedding photography

The Leica M6 is the perfect camera for wedding photographers that lean into a documentary style approach to wedding days. What even does the word, ‘documentary’ mean these days? Honestly, it’s become a bit of a buzzword in the photography world. It seems almost everyone uses the term documentary and editorial even if their work is no where near either styles. For me, ‘documentary’ means capturing the wedding day as naturally as possible, meaning uninterrupted, unscripted and as the day happens. That doesn’t mean I won’t offer some direction around light, group photos or specific idea, but it does mean that I’ll blend in with the crowd as much as possible and photograph as non-intrusive as I can.

The Leica M6 is a tool that enables me to do the above. It’s a small, compact and quiet camera that takes stunningly great photographs.
